Wedding Ceremonies

FAQ

Can we hold a reception in the Waller Center?

The Waller Center has a large meeting room (capacity 20-30 people), gymnasium and basement dining room available for an additional fee. We do not provide catering, but our industrial kitchen is available for rental. Please note: alcohol is not allowed in any part of the Waller Center.

Our venue is also within walking distance of the many rentable picnic areas and outdoor wedding sites in beautiful Golden Gate Park. We are also happy to recommend bookable restaurants and bars on nearby Haight St.

Does the Waller Center offer catering?

We do not provide catering, but our industrial kitchen and adjoining dining room is available for rental. Please note: alcohol is not allowed in any part of the Waller Center.

Who will officiate the ceremony?

Celebrants are welcome to provide their own officiant. For an additional $100 fee, the Waller Center can provide an officiant ordained by the Universal Life Church (unaffiliated with any specific religious tradition.) The Waller Center is no longer an active Methodist church, but we can connect you with our network of Methodist pastors upon request.

How many bathrooms are there?

Three single-stall, gender-neutral bathrooms are available within one hundred feet of the chapel space.

Is there space to get ready?

Two preparation rooms with a full length-mirror, seating, and storage space are included with the space rental. The smaller prep room comfortably holds fifteen people and is located at the back of the chapel, well-suited for wedding party members walking down the aisle. The larger prep room comfortably holds thirty people and is located behind the altar.

Is there a sound system?

Built in 1908, our chapel boasts natural acoustics and requires no microphone or speaker system. You are welcome to bring your own sound system.

A grand piano sits within the chapel and is included with the rental. Our resident musician may be available to hire for an additional fee, or you may bring your own musicians.

Is there parking?

We have limited spots available in our private, gated parking lot. Attendees will likely need to park in tandem. We are an eight minute walk from the public Kezar parking lot, as well as plentiful nearby public transit options, including the N, 7, 6, 33 and 43 Muni lines.

Is the Waller Center wheelchair accessible?

Unfortunately, the Waller Center is a historical building without wheelchair accommodations. Guests must ascend one flight of stairs to reach the chapel area. Once on the chapel level, one bathroom and both preparation areas are accessible without steps.

Are there overnight accommodations?

The Waller Center dormitories are available to rent for an additional fee. Dormitory rentals include bedding and shared bathrooms and shower facilities. We are also located an eight minute walk from the Stanyan Park Hotel, and a fifteen minute drive/twenty minute Muni ride to the many downtown San Francisco hotels.
